Expressions of interest for volunteering at NLS9 are now closed
The New Librarians’ Symposium is a fantastic first conference to attend. We’ve put together a fantastic program and it is looking to be a weekend packed with something that will appeal to every type of new librarian, no matter where your interest lies.
We are looking for current LIS students who would like to volunteer a day of their time to help us out at the event. We need enthusiastic people who aren’t afraid to put their hands up to help others. We want people who are approachable, passionate, and able to meet a problem with a smile and a solution.
What is expected of volunteers?
All successful applications will be asked to volunteer for one day of the symposium and are free to attend the other day as a delegate.
Who can apply?
To be considered you need to be a current LIS student and a member of ALIA.
How can you apply?
Make your case for why you should join our volunteer team in one of two ways:
- via a video message (at least 90 seconds long) or
- a short written essay (no more than 500 words).
There is space on the form to share the link to your video. Whatever method you choose – make sure you sell yourself and your passion for helping others. Be creative, be convincing. We want to know why you would be an asset to our team.
We can’t wait to hear from you!
Please note that all successful applicants will be responsible for their own travel, transport, accommodation, and any other expenses incurred during the symposium.
